stupak amendment REVOLT!

Have us deliver a letter to your Senators on your behalf

The rally in DC in opposition to the anti-choice Stupak Amendment to the healthcare reform bill passed by the House of Representatives is just days away. At the same time, the Senate is just beginning its healthcare reform debate. It is crucial to the lives of millions of American women and families that no Stupak language finds its way into the Senate healthcare reform bill.

Ashley and Tiffany have booked their travel plans to attend the rally on Dec. 2 and to deliver letters from our group to Senate and Congress members. That means time has just about run out for members of the Stupak Amendment Revolt to forward their handwritten letters and coat hangers to Ashley and Tiffany to be taken along on their trip. But it's not too late for you to make sure your Senators know that you will not support legislation--or legislators--restricting a woman's right to choose.

Fill out the web form at right, and we'll print out a copy of the letter below on your behalf and hand-deliver it to your Senators' offices in Washington. This form will close to new submissions on the evening of Tuesday, December 1, so don't wait to make sure that your letters are in the stack Ashley and Tiffany will be taking to Capitol Hill on Wednesday!

Thanks to everyone who has joined the Stupak Amendment REVOLT group and for your continued support in ensuring the amendment gets stripped from the Senate bill.

For Women's Lives,
Tiffany and Ashley

The Honorable [SENATOR'S FIRST NAME] [SENATOR'S LAST NAME]
[ADDRESS]
WASHINGTON DC 20510

Dear Senator [SENATOR'S LAST NAME],

I'm asking you to defend women's reproductive health care when it comes under attack on the Senate floor.

Specifically, the Stupak-Pitts amendment to healthcare-reform legislation passed by the House of Representatives makes it virtually impossible for private insurance companies that participate in the new system to offer abortion coverage to women. This would have the effect of denying women the right to use their own personal, private funds to purchase an insurance plan that includes abortion coverage in the new health system. This is a radical departure from the status quo, as more than 85 percent of private insurance plans currently cover abortion services.

As you work to advance the healthcare-reform legislation in the Senate, please don't let anti-choice politics interfere, and don't allow women's health to be put in jeopardy.

Sincerely,

[YOUR FIRST NAME] [YOUR LAST NAME]
